Home River

Shivering moonlight
Upon the rivers surface

Navy ship shadows and silhouettes
That come and go
To local waters or foreign lands
I do not know

Cities, beach fronts
Deserts and mountains

I am fine right here
With my dirty river that’s not so crystal clear

Though I wouldn’t mind a mountain
Nearby
Or colder temps
And being able to see the starry sky

Some things don’t change
Like the constant water ebb and flow

Many quiet nights at the flag pole I hang
Playing my mobile game

Summer night tunes
From a mobile stage
Folk in their chairs
Eating food truck delights
Gathered around
The river is a backdrop
Giving ageless happiness
To her guests

Red light ship that used to patrol
Over one hundred years old
Our pride and symbol
Now a museum near the rivers edge

Cities, beach fronts
Deserts and mountains
I am fine right here
With my dirty river that’s not so crystal clear
